Dawn Thompson 1934-2008

Last October, I posted about a charity raffle to benefit Dawn Thompson, who was ill and facing mounting medical costs.

Ms. Thompson passed away peacefully on Friday 8 February. According to the information on Ms. Thompson’s blog donations in her memory can be made to The Haven Foundation.

Our condolences to her friends and family. May her memory be a blessing to those who mourn.

Oh, what sad news.  I met Dawn when I joined the Gothic chapter of RWA. She had literally just sold her first novel to Dorchester through a contest.  We emailed back and forth a few times, her excited and stunned, me curious and envious.  “The Ravencliffe Bride” is still my favorite book of hers.

May she rest in peace. I am truly saddened by her passing.

Sharon, is there another link that we can sign the memorial book at? I tried the link and its giving me the Page not Found mumbo jumbo. Appreciate the heads up!

    Hi Phadem,

The link works okay, but for some reason, the entire link was link-ified when I pasted it on the SB site. If you click it, then paste in the part that isn’t link-ified, it seems to work. Also, you can get there from:

Phadem, thanks so much for posting all the kind words about her and her work on your site. Dawn was an amazing woman.

Sharon—thanks for clarifying that for me! She really was an amazing woman. I wish I’d been able to know her even better, but she was just one of those people that you knew was a good person, no mater how little you spoke to her. She was most, most special.

It would appear Deborah MacGillivray has acquired a new pen name:  Dawn Thompson.

I was thrilled to see a new book out by Dawn Thompson (August 2008), when I went to look if it was a reissue I saw the dedication.

It was dedicated to her dear friend, yadda, yadda, Deborah MacGillivray and names a few of the others that have been stalking readers on the Internet, and it includes the “Ladies in Waiting” Group.

Also, Dawn Thompson has another book coming out in 2009.

And—for shame—Dawn Thompson has accounts in other book review clubs that are showing recent activity (this month) and “she’s” actively reviewing books, too!

    Is that legal?
