Happy Potter Day

It’s Potter Day. Hubby’s copy has landed on the porch with a definite thwunk, and I’ve sent him to the beach with his book, a sandwich, cookies, and a jug of water so he can go read the Harry adventures. This was our exchange for my going to Dallas – I go gallivant around the hotel for 3 days; he gets the following weekend to read his book. So I’m home on Nap Patrol, with ice water, two laptops, internet, and a nearby lavatory. Pretty much everything the pregnant Smart Bitch needs to relax.

For all of you reading the Potter madness today, I hope you enjoy it and get the resolution and ending you’re hoping for! Happy reading!

It was by the checkout line of Kroger today when I got groceries, already marked 40% off.

I read the last chapter while waiting in line 😉

  2. Angela says:

Ha! I reserved a copy from my library months ago and now see it sitting on the “Hold Shelf” as I speak. In your face you other 600+ library patrons! LOL

I’m with Sarah—except I’m not preggers.  But I’m home, with air conditioning, internet, music, Diet Coke, M&Ms, and a deadline, staying far, far away from the HP7 madness.

I salute those of you savoring your day, may it be full of HP bliss or blissfully HP free.  🙂

  4. My roommate got me into the series. I haven’t been excited about them since 4 however, I’ve put this much effort into it- darn it I’m going to find out what happens

Unfortunately, this means I will have to bury my head in the sand for the next few weeks because I don’t have the time to read it right now, and I don’t want to ‘accidentally’ find out how it ends.

Hi, Sarah, I’ve never read any of the Harry Potter books. Isn’t that crazy?

    I have all of the books, though, 1-7. Can’t read #7 until I read 1-6. 🙂

I saw the Harry Potter movie last night, though. I don’t think Daniel Radcliffe is going to grow up to be an ugly man. I watched him onscreen and felt dirty ‘cause I was like, “damn, boy be lookin’ good.”

“I read the last chapter while waiting in line”

As long as you did it into yourself. Someone in line in front of my dh picked up the book and started reading the last chapter aloud to their child.

And dh couldn’t quite bring himself to say anything so he had to furiously hum to himself instead.

And yes, it really was a blissful day – my older two & I curled up on the big bed reading all day. (Dh – not important enough to get his own copy. Gets to read mine now.)

  7. My pre-ordered copy was delivered. Alas, the small people want me to build lego houses and read to them instead of sneaking off to Hogwarts…

My friends and I went to the midnight release (heh heh) event at Scholastic last night. It was pretty epic. And then I read about half last night and the rest after I woke up. It was great, but I’ll miss him. God, that’s pathetic.

Oh crapweasels, my verification word is “felt18.” That is FILTHY.

  10. I’m hunkering down away from my usual nerdly sites to avoid spoilers. It says something for my faith in the smart bitches that I was brave enough to click on the comments. I would do that on just any site.

I’m in the home stretch on line edits for my very very due book. Heh. Maybe it’s kind of like being pregnant, since my weekend sounds a little like Sarah’s (lots of tea, two computers, internet and back and forth to the loo).

  11. Caitie says:

I’m at home, knocked up and happy, reading a Mercedes Lackey fantasy novel (the Elemental Masters series, I love a good retelling of a fairy tale, this one is Sleeping Beauty).

I have my copy of HP7, but I’m not going to read it til I’m finished with one or two other books, including the fantastic Girlfriends’ Guide to Pregnancy!

  12. Marissa says:

I’m with bam about Daniel Radcliffe; I felt kinda dirty too about ogling him while watching the movie, but I couldn’t help it…
    Is he even 18 yet?

  13. Dang, I won’t have my copy until Sunday!  But from what I hear, it’s worth the wait.

  14. smartmensab-tch says:

For those who were “looking” at Daniel Radcliffe:  According to the Internet Movie Database site, his birthdate is 7/23/89.  So he’s 17, which I think is legal in most of the US. Don’t know about the rest of the world.

Personally I like my boytoys to be at least 18, just to be safe.

  15. smartmensab-tch says:

Taking back the part of my previous comments about age of consent…if interested, check out the article in Wikipedia. AOC in Texas where I live is 17, but varies widely in other states, mostly from 16 to 18, with exceptions for certain types of relationships.

Think I’ll stick to my “18” rule as seems like that will keep me legal in US!

    Verification word is local48!  Funny!

  16. Deb says:

I feel totally pervy for appreciating how nicely Daniel Radcliffe is growing up.  When I discovered that he’s a decade and a day older than my son (meaning he turns 18 on Monday, for those of you keeping score at home), it made me feel even pervier.

I found myself wondering about how they’d do some things in the last movie as I was reading the book today…

  17. Brandi, I loved that!  Thank you so much for sharing!

  18. Brandi says:

There’s a second, short but very sweet clip too.

He’s past the age of consent in England, so as long as you’re willing to travel….

Besides, I knew he was going to grow into a total hottie. Look at that sweet little baby face in the first movie! It’s just waiting for all those hormones to burst free and give him cheekbones. 😉

He needs to do something with those eyebrows, though. They’re rather shaggy. Just a brush or some gel or something, not even waxing or plucking….

  20. Deb says:

And for those of us feeling pervy for ogling Daniel Radcliffe, let’s all wish him a happy 18th birthday today.  We’re still pervy but not quite as bad….

  21. wordworm says:

  22. shaina says:

i read it in 4.5 hours. i’m nuts. it was amazing. *sigh*

  23. kaitlin says:

Got my copy at Freddie’s (West Coast version of Krogers…kind of).  Read it in less than 4 hours.  Loved it!  Just mad that there was no reference to Sirius.  Felt cheated in that sense.  Loved it otherwise!  Yay!  😀
