Friday Video: It’s Business Time

This week’s Friday Video is brought to you by the letters L, O, and L,  and by Bitchery Reader Monica, who writes

HBO has a relatively new show called Flight of the Conchords which is hilarious, although admittedly unusual.  It’s about two New Zealanders who come to America to try to make it big with their band.  During the show, they’ll break out into song.  This one is a classic that aired a couple of weeks ago.

In case looking at all the “Show It Technology” has you ready to get it on ‘till the break of dawn this weekend, here’s additional inspiration. It’s Business Time.

Oh my that’s fantastic. It reminds of the show “The State” that used to be on MTV long ago. They had that great skit about eating Muppets. I think it had a song too.

“I didn’t know you could eat Muppet?”

“Of course. And they’re very good for you to.”

“But how do you catch a Muppet?”

“Easy silly.” Calling out the window, “If only I knew how many legs were on the table?”

I think after they kill the helpful Muppet they sing.

Its the sorting of the recycling and the brushing of the teeth that get me everytime.  So sexy………

Check out their other videos on You Tube.  They are so funny.

  3. Robyn says:

Sweet. Especially when he tries to take off his pants over his shoes but turns it into a sexy dance; good save!

Didn’t he do some Outback Steakhouse commercials?

  4. Rinda says:

I caught this show and cracked up over “You’re so beautiful, you could be a part-time model.”

  5. Anonymosity says:

I LOVE THESE GUYS! They’re truly hilarious. Check out some of their live performances on youtube. I’m so glad they’re gaining some notoriety: they deserve it.

  6. Holy Shit, I had to smother my laughter when my four year old daughter came over and tell her I was laughing at the guitarist.  Isn’t he silly.

Us kiwi’s can be a funny lot at times 🙂

I just wish I had HBO so I could watch them *sob*

  9. I just wanted to say thanks. Really. For leaving me to sort out a major plot hole with “It’s business… It’s business time” looping over and over and over and over in my head.

    Someone make it stop.

  10. Marci says:

These guys are the reason I decided to cave and finally get HBO.

    Love. Them.

There hasn’t been an episode where I don’t laugh so loud my neighbor hears me through the wall.

My favorite song so far is “Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros” in episode 3.  But they are all funny, and very catchy.  I find myself singing them the next day.

  11. Octavia says:

Oh wow! I saw these guys in Edinburgh a few years ago. They’re hilarious, absolutely brilliant. ‘She’s so hot, she’s making me sexist’ stayed with us for a long time (I see there’s visuals of that too!) but Business Time brought the house down.

By the way, one of them gained brief notoriety from two seconds in the Lord of the Rings movies, which was hilarious in itself.

Really exciting to see them again like this.

  12. AJ says:

I love this show. This is the 2nd best moment. The best of course being the episode where the guy in video plays David Bowie.

  13. Beth says:

Makes me proud to be a NZer 😀

  14. Emily says:

Oh man I remember seeing these guys perform live at Just for Laughs on TV over the last few years.

    This version’s new, though! ^__^

  15. Metal Monkey says:

I’ve loved this duo for so long. Gotta praise the YouTube. All of their stuff is on there. Check out The Humans Are Dead (which I want to make my ringtone) for its brilliant binary solo (oh, I’m such a nerd).

  16. thirstygirl says:

One of our finest exports…I *strongly* recommend you get your hands on their album.

  17. JaniceG says:

If you like these guys, you will definitely also like a similar Australian group Tripod, especially this SNL video on roughly the same topic from a geek perspective:

  18. Marta Acosta says:

Gawd, now I think I have to get HBO.  These guys are hi-larious.  I liked, “Recylcing isn’t part of foreplay, but it’s still very important.”

  19. karibelle says:

“When it’s with me you only need 2 minutes, Girl, cuz I’m so intense.”

Now where have I heard that one before?

  20. JaniceG says:

In a weird coincidence, I was just looking at a story at The Onion and they showcased a link on AV Club to an interview with one of the Conchords guys about their HBO show: http://www.avclub.com/content/node/64373

I can never think of sex the same cause It’s Business TTTIIIMMMEEE!
