My Romance Doesn’t Need One Thing But Otters

Sent to me by Darlene and posted just for the pleasure of knowing Candy will squee: A little romance on Friday.

Note: there’s no need to listening to cooing tourists – you can turn down the volume and imagine your own soundtrack.

  1. Vuirneen says:

That was the cutest thing in the world.  I thought it was just coincidence, until the otter swung around and grabbed hold.

  2. What amazed me was when they were separated at the end, they reached out to hold “hands” again.

Otterly adorable.  And the light colored one looks like my dear husband.

  3. fiveandfour says:

That is soooooo sweet.  The paws with the reach out and hold at the end was romance perfection (I’m always saying people don’t use the simple holding of hands in romance enough).

  4. Doug says:

Can I imagine Nine Inch Nails’s Closer?

What am I talking about—of course I can imagine Closer.

  5. Rinda says:

Oh man.  That is sweet.  I need it today. Big time.  Thanks!

  6. fiveandfour says:

Doug, just so long as it’s not Hurt.

(Perhaps not work safe.  There’s Muppet slash, among other things.)

  7. Oh Doug, now I’m going to have that earworm in my head all afternoon. But it does fit.

  8. Candy says:

    *is dead from cute*

A co-worker of mine pointed out that they’ll often anchor themselves using beds of kelp while they nap, and this is very likely them adapting to the kelpless environment of the zoo.

Who knew a lack of kelp would result in SO MUCH CUTE?

  9. Chris says:

Cutest thing ever! I love otters.

  10. Little Miss Spy says:

I agree with Darlene. The Holding hands killed me with cuteness. I was literally cooing at the computer as the cats on my couch glared at me jealously! Thank you. You made my FRIDAY!

  11. Angel says:

i love floating and holding hands; I want to be an otter!

  12. Marty says:

Awww, all the girls are cooing in front of my desk,  now that was absolutely ADORABLE.  I want to Snuggle the otters.
I’m gonna add it to my fave cheer me up vids.

    THANKS

  13. bam says:

I want to be an otter too!

  14. Wry Hag says:

I SO loved it!  That otter is infinitely sweeter and more mellow than my S.O.

  15. That was a very cute video, but I feel obligated to inject some reality into the life of otters.  Those were, most likely, female otters.  They often will not house male and female otters in the same exhibit because the mating habits of otters are fairly brutal.  The male will subdue the female by biting her nose during the act, sometimes even pushing her head under the water and drowning her.

In this case, the “romance” is the sweetness of companionship.

  16. Madd says:

    So … they’re lesbian otters?

The video was cute though. My kids thought so too.
