Brief Message

To our readers in the UK:

We are so sorry for what has happened in London today, and we hope that you, your families, and your friends and loved ones are safe.

We know how this feels, and you are in our thoughts.

-The Smart Bitches

Edited to Add:

Maili requested animated gifs to cheer her up. So in solidarity with our friends across the pond, we offer a one-time-only presentation.

In case you can’t tell what the hell is going on there, that’s Spiderman stomping out terrorism, with the US and the UK standing by. Ooops! Forgot to represent Candy’s Malaysian badassedness. Sorry! Just typical American self-absorption at work!

Brings it all back, doesn’t it?  My heart goes out to London – keep safe.

It’s just…wrong. There are no words. People just need to stop.

We are all so sorry to hear of this.  You united with us in the spirit of a common mourning after 9-11.  We do the same for you.  God bless you all.

The news has been so frightening.  All of our sisters (and brothers) in GB, stay safe. You’re in our thoughts and prayers.

    Maili says:

    Thanks, everyone.

Sarah & Candy, I’d feel A LOT better if there was an animated GIF on your blog to cheer us up.

    *blinks*

    Sarah says:

Well, it is a known fact that even terrorists hate animated gifs. Lemme see what we can do….

    E.D'Trix says:

    Oh, I can’t wait to see this…

    Amanda says:

    Luurve that Spidey!

Of course I thought he was racing to rescue Maili from bedrest hell, but hey- stomping on the terrorist bastards is fine by me.

  14. 14
    E.D'Trix says:

Oh my goodness! It is everything I hoped it would be…

  15. 15

    Go,Spidey, Go…that SO rocks.

    Candy says:

If there’s one blogger for whom we would gladly violate our most cherished principles, I guess Maili would be it.

Anyone else hearing the old Batman TV theme as you watch ole Spidey run? “Nananananana nanananana SPIDERMAN! SPIDERMAN!”

Ah, and my captcha is running66. How appropriate.

  17. 17
    Sarah says:

I’ve been walking around humming, “Spiderman! Spiderman! Does whatever a Spider can!” I get a lot of weird looks.

    Maili says:

That’s fanfuckingtastic! Thank you, Sarah and Candy! *laughing* That’s absolutely brilliant. Thanks! :D

    Candy says:

The Spiderman theme that most often gets stuck in my head is the one from the Electric Company. Any of you guys remember that?

“Spiderman… Where are you coming from, Spiderman? Nobody knows who you aaaare….”

70s cheese at its finest. The little drawn-in stink lines when Spidey’s Spider-Sense started tingling were especially bad. So bad that even as a 6-year-old, I cringed.

    Edith says:

    Yay! Go spidey, go.

    Sarah says:

DUDE. Forgot Malaysia. Sorry Candy! Edited to appropriately represent our multi-national smart bitchery!

  22. 22
    E.D'Trix says:

What, the Malaysia flag is too good to wave with the movement of Spidey’s mighty stamping feet? LOL

  23. 23
    Candy says:

Fixed! The Malaysian flag (which bears an eerie resemblance to the American flag, really) is now proudly blowing in the wind.

Or just blowing, tee hee hee. Patriotism is not (and probably never will be) one of my virtues; I’m too much of an irreverent fuckass.

    fiveandfour says:

Oh, Spidey you are such a bad ass.  Go Spidey go!

    Alison S says:

    Thank you!!
How can terrorism compete with an underground cell network of people who are so adaptable that they don’t even stay true to their own anti-GIF principles?
That was brilliant – thanks again.

Alison, who lives just outside London
